How To Build a Safety Co-op With RSU Part 3 Behavioral Health Workers
Behavioral Health Workers play an important role in our communities and are essential support for people exhibiting anti-social behavior. In the State of Washington, behavioral health workers are on mobile crisis outreach teams or Alternate Response Teams (ART) working with both fire and police.
Close contact and contextual awareness, give RSU Neighborhood Safety Agents a unique position to call upon behavioral health workers for people in crisis. Behavioral health teams are hindered from a quick response (or response at all) due to call triage and short-staffing.
RSU Agents fill the gap by de-escalating, relationship-building, and guiding people in crisis toward services.
